A three days long BSF welfare exhibition organized by BSF Wives
Welfare Association (BWWA) began today at CGO Ground near Pragati
Vihar Hostel, Lodhi Road New Delhi today. Smt. Mriganka Gupta wife
of Hon�ble Union Home Secretary Sh. Madhukar Gupta inaugurated the
exhibition which will remain open for general public from 6th
November to 8th November . The timing of the exhibition is 11am to 9
pm for all the three days.
The exhibition is organized every year by BSF as image building
exercise to create awareness in the minds of countrymen about the
role and functioning of BSF besides providing avenues for sale of
various goods and handicrafts produced in BSF run various welfare
centres in the border areas of the country. It also generates funds
for rehabilitation of widows of the Force and provide additional
source of income to BSF families through the activities of welfare
centres.
In her inaugural address Smt. Gupta appreciated the efforts of BSF
and congratulated BWWA for organizing such a grand fete for the
welfare of jawans and their families. Smt Gupta accompanied by Dr.
Smt Reena Mitra president BWWA later visited stalls put up by
various Frontiers of BSF.
Various field formations of the BSF have put up stalls displaying a
variety of utility items produced in the welfare centres by the
wives and dependents of Bordermen. Also a host of regional
specialties and eatables have been offered for sale to the visitors.
A photo stall depicting a wide spectrum of BSF activities was also
put up for the visitors.A blood donation camp was also organized on
the occasion where BSF personnel donated blood.Cultural programmes
have also been planned in the evening depicting the region/states
where BSF is deployed. On 6th November cultural team from Punjab,
J&K, Rajasthan and Gujarat will perform while on 7th
November cultural programme from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland,
West Bengal will be held.
