BSF SEIZES HEROIN ON INDO PAK BORDER IN
PUNJAB
BSF in yet another successful bid foiled drug
smuggling through Pakistan India border. This was the second attempt by
smugglers to smuggle Heroin from Pakistan during last one week. BSF had
information about likely attempt of smuggling of heroin. Accordingly troops
had been warned to be extra vigilant. At about 0130 hours in the night
intervening 11/12 Dec 2006 BSF naka deployed on border under Faridkot sensed
some movement and also heard sound of movement. Sentry on duty alerted the
naka and reached the spot and on search naka party discovered one packet
lying about 15 mtrs from the fence on home side. The naka party informed the
Post Comdr and Coy commander about the same who organized further search of
the area and recovered 2 more packets of heroin and a Chinese Pistol loaded
with 4 rounds on other side of fence. The smugglers however succeeded in
escaping taking advantage of thick fog.This is the fifth major attempt of
smuggling of narcotics in 2006 foiled by BSF on the Western Frontier. BSF
has seized total 69 Kgs of Heroin on western border in the current year so
far. Besides narcotics, BSF has succeeded in recovering Fake Indian Currency
Notes worth Rs: 17,85,000/- and 15 weapons of different types in the
same period in western region. 16 intruders have been killed and 42 Pakistan
nationals apprehended while they were trying to infiltrate in India
side.Earlier on 5th Dec 2006 also BSF had foiled one major attempt of
smuggling of Heroin in large quantity and had recovered 10 kgs of Heroin and
killed 1 unidentified smuggler on border under Ferozpur Sector.
