 BSF DAY-2006

    41st BSF Raising Day was celebrated today   at sprawling BSF camp at Chhawla on the outskirts of New Delhi. On the occasion different contingent of the force conducted march past before the Chief Guest Hon’ble Home Minister of India Sh. Shiv Raj Patil who took the salute.

    Addressing the personnel of the BSF the Chief Guest of the occasion Union Home Minister Sh. Shiv Raj Patil praised the high standard of training and leadership in the BSF. Complementing and congratulating the DG BSF Sh. A K Mitra his officers and men for excellent performance on parade he said the parade was a clear depiction of the varied and difficult terrains in which the force is deployed.

    Earlier in his welcome address, DG BSF Sh A K Mitra highlighted  the factors causing stress among force personnel. He said  force personnel are deployed in remote  and difficult areas where many a times  basic amenities are not available.  In some remote areas because of lack basic telecom network, personnel are not even able to talk to their family members. This loneliness further aggravates the stress level among them and it sometimes results in incidents of suicides and fragging. To reduce the causes of stress among the force personnel,   he proposed appointment of a counselor in every battalion, Sh Mitra said. He further said that to provide rest and relief to personnel BSF has suggested raising 26 more battalions. At the occasion Sh Mitra also highlighted the need for  parity of earned and casual leave to every force personnel whether they are posted in Ftr, Sector and Bn Hqrs.

    Addressing the personnel of the force,  Sh Shiv Raj Patil praised the high standard of training and leadership in BSF. Shri Patil said the contribution and sacrifices of the BSF in upholding the integrity and sovereignty of the India has been substantial and they will always be remembered.  The Home
minister assured the BSF personnel that the government is aware of the difficulties and challenges being faced by them and assured the matters will be looked into. He said government will provide all assistance for better living conditions at their place of deployment. The union minister also shared the concern of DG BSF about the stress among force personnel. He said the idea of counselor in every battalion will be looked into. Sh Patil also said  that the  government will look into the mater of  more battalions for BSF in particular and  CPO's in general this will help  in providing  rest and relief to jawans and officers of the force.

    At the occasion the Hon’ble Home Minister decorated the members of the Force who have been awarded medals for their gallant actions and distinguished services to the nation. 08 Bordermen including 05 posthumously decorated with President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and Six with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. The Hon’ble Home Minister presented President’s Police Medal for Gallantry to the widows of late  Asstt Comdt S K Bameta, Late Insp Dalbir Singh, Late HC D D Sharma,  and Late HC Mustaq Ahmed Mir.
